What Virginia Beach does to a window
Virginia Beach glass has the Atlantic on one side and the Chesapeake Bay on the other, and the two meet at Cape Henry. The North End, the Oceanfront and Croatan take spray straight off the ocean on every east wind and dry a white film within a week of a cleaning, heaviest in a nor'easter when the spray carries blocks inland to Linkhorn Park and Birdneck Point. Along Shore Drive, Chesapeake Beach and Ocean Park take it off the bay on a north wind instead, and in winter the road salt and brine spray off Shore Drive and Atlantic Avenue add a gray film to everything near the street.
Behind the dunes it is water and trees. Bay Colony, Alanton, Linkhorn Park and Birdneck Point sit on Linkhorn Bay, Crystal Lake and Broad Bay under loblolly pines and live oaks, and the pines drop a yellow-green pollen from March into May that coats every pane, screen and sill, then the oaks drip tannin after every rain. The water side of the house takes a damp haze every morning that leaves a gray film, the deep shade in Thoroughgood keeps north-facing glass damp enough for mildew, and the Oceanfront condo towers along Atlantic Avenue take salt on every floor.
We keep it from building up by working each neighborhood on a set day. Most Virginia Beach homes do well on a quarterly plan, with a spring visit timed to the end of pollen season and a late-fall visit before the nor'easter season. A first cleaning, inside and out, is $259 for a home up to 2,000 square feet, $329 for 2,000 to 3,500 square feet, and $429 for larger homes on our Silver package. After that, a quarterly maintenance plan runs $60, $77, or $100 a month for those same home sizes. Oceanfront and riverfront estates get a custom quote.
How often should windows be cleaned in Virginia Beach?
Homes under the pines in Thoroughgood, Linkhorn Park and the interior of Alanton do well every quarter, which keeps pollen, tannin drip and mildew from building up. Homes on the ocean or the bay at the North End, Croatan, Bay Colony and along Shore Drive do better every two months because of the salt. Most people have the inside glass done once a year.
Do you work in condo and HOA buildings?
Yes. We work in the Oceanfront condo towers along Atlantic Avenue and the bayfront buildings along Shore Drive with front-desk or fob access, and we are used to the HOA vendor rules in Bay Colony, Croatan and Cape Henry. Just add us to your gate list or tell us the procedure when you book.
Can you remove hard water spots from sprinklers?
In most cases, yes. Mineral spots from sprinkler overspray need a dedicated treatment rather than regular cleaning. Tell us about them on the quote form and we will look at them on the first visit.
