What Suffolk does to a window
North Suffolk sits where the Nansemond River meets the James, and the glass takes salt off both rivers on a north or east wind. Waterfront homes at the Riverfront, Governor's Pointe, Bennett's Creek, Crittenden and Eclipse take a damp haze every morning that leaves a gray film on the water side of the house, heaviest in a nor'easter when the wind pushes the James up over the bulkheads, and the shipping channel and the boat traffic on the creek keep an exhaust film on anything facing the water. In winter the road salt and brine spray off Bridge Road add a gray film near the street.
Inland the salt fades and the pines take over. Harbour View, Burbage Grant and the newer streets off Shoulders Hill Road were built around lakes and ponds under loblolly pines that drop a yellow-green pollen from March into May that coats every pane, screen and sill, and the water keeps the back glass damp enough for mildew in the shoulder seasons. The golf-course irrigation leaves a hard mineral line along the lower panes, and the lots still being built keep a layer of construction dust on the sliders and screens for a year after the home is finished.
River-front and creek-front homes at the Riverfront, Governor's Pointe, Bennett's Creek and Crittenden do best on an every-two-months plan. Homes under the pines in Harbour View and Burbage Grant do well quarterly, with the inside glass done once a year either way. Can you remove hard water spots from sprinklers?
In most cases, yes. Mineral spots from sprinkler overspray need a dedicated treatment rather than regular cleaning. Tell us about them on the quote form and we will look at them on the first visit.
